but when thats probably 10% or more of your nations military thats alot

As of Aug 08, there was still approx. 144,500 US troops and 6,500 from other countries. At the invasion the US had 250,000 and 47,000 from other countries (not all were combat forces). So, yeah, we pretty much went it alone. Non-US forces in Iraq now are right at 5% of the total and at the invasion they only accounted for about 17% of the totals..and like I said, not all were combat troops. Compare that to Desert Storm and you'll see that we pretty much went it alone.

not all of our troops are combat troops either

but again of those 45 nations and even the UK who is our biggest ally........none have a miliatry anywhere nearly as big as ours

FYI-the troop totals for the Invasion during Desert Storm was approx. 575,000 US troops and 226,500 non-US troops...so the US just had a lil over 2/3 of the total then.

what % of our military did we send there?

of these other countries who came to help us out.......what % of their military did they send?

compare apples to apples

because trying to compare how many we had compared to everybody else is an idiotic comparison simply because we have more people in our military than the entire population of some of these nations

our military is almost 3m......the brits have 430k.......australia is only 51k........estonia only has 5600

so yeah some didnt send much numberwise.......but relatively speaking.....is a different story

one other thing to consider especially when you consider the former russian states like estonia and the ukraine is what was just going on between russia and georgia......many of them just like so korea have their own immediate border security issues to worry about
